"Valentina's facial and foot reflexology have made a huge impact on my life at a time when I was going through a lot of stress...The treatments are hugely relaxing but they have lingering effects which lasted days in my case"- LH

Reflexology doesn't just begin and end with the feet. Reflex points are found on the face too.
Not only does facial reflexology bring all the benefits of foot reflexology but, it has extra beautifying effects. These include, a more radiant complexion, a natural glow to the face, the skin can become smoother and have a more tighter appearance. Lines and wrinkles can also become less visible after a few treatments as circulation flow is increased to release muscle tension. This therapy focuses on reflex points on the face which help stimulate the body's healing mechanisms and help improve circluation and nerve condition encouraging toxin release via the lymphatic system. Balancing Reflex points in the face connect to and help to balance the entire body.

How Facial Reflexology Works

The same principle applies to facial reflexology as to reflexology on the feet. Facial reflex points are directly connected to the body's neuro-pathways, therefore the face's proximity to the brain is key when these reflex points are being stimulated. Massaging and stimulating these reflexes on the face sends signals to the corresponding parts of the body causing a direct response. As a result the body's own healing abilities are stimulated, circulation and nerve supply are improved and as a whole the body can function better. On a more superficial level, collagen production and elasticity are improved which can improve the texture of the skin.

The Bergman Zone Method

The technique used for your facial reflexology comes from the teachings of Ziggie Bergman. The Bergman Zone Method of Facial Reflexology was devised by Ziggie when she was living in South America and studying closely with Native American shamans and healers. This bespoke treatment uses asian body mapping to help reveal what is happening within the body.

What Can I Expect During My Session?

A brief consultation will be taken on your first visit to the therapy rooms. This will determine your needs and intentions for the treatment. You will be made comfortable on the massage table and your face will cleansed using gentle, unscented cleansing wipes. Upper body and head massage will be given to ease you into a deeper relaxation and for you to get used to your therapist's touch. This will also help your body to increase its circulation in order to benefit your facial treatment. Your facial reflexology will then begin. Certain points on your face will be gentle stimulated using various techniques and massage of the face will also be added to smooth out the skin, improve texture and release tension from the facial muscles.
Ultimately, facial reflexology is an incredibly relaxing therapy to experience and drifting off to sleep is a common effect. Snoring is also very welcome! (As a therapist, this is a lovely sound to hear)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which products do you use for Facial Reflexology?
A. I use pre- blended oils specially formulated for use on the face from Neal's Yard Remedies. Depending on your skin type, we will choose the right oils for you.

Q. What if I don't want to have oil on my face?
A. That is fine. Facial Reflexology can be performed "dry" -without any oil. It is just as effective.

Q. Can I leave my make up on?
A. It is advised that you do not wear a lot of makeup when you are about to have a Facial Reflexology treatment. This will give your skin a chance to absorb the lovely facial oils to achieve the best results. Eye makeup can be left on as the eye area won't be directly worked on.

Q. Can it help with migraines?
A. Yes. This treatment is very effective concerning ailments surrounding the head and neck. Clients have experinced a complete disappearing or releasing of headaches after the treatment.

Q. What's the difference between facial and foot reflexology?
A. Facial reflexology can be more beneficial for ailments that surround the upper areas of the body. The nerve endings found in the face have a closer proximity to the upper structures of the body, the head, neck, facial muscles and structures and therefore a deeper and more prominent result can be achieved from reflexology on the face.

Q. Can it help with lines and wrinkles?
A. Yes. Even though Facial Reflexology is not specifically a beauty treatment, the techniques used during the treatment can help to reduce lines and wrinkles over a period of time. You may find fine lines look much softer even after one treatment! I believe that years of emotions can show up in the face and regular Facial Reflexology can help to relax the system and gently release any unwanted energy, finally allowing the body's energy to naturallly flow once again.
